Job Title: Quality Manager – Commercial Finishing & Paint Operations
Location: Binghamton, NY

Salary: $22 - $27 / hr based on experience
Hours: Mon – Thu 5:00 am – 3:30 am
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Manager to oversee the quality assurance and control processes within our commercial finishing and paint operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with an understanding of industrial coatings or manufacturing quality systems and a desire to grow within a dynamic production environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring our finished products meet industry standards, customer specifications, and environmental/safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming materials, work-in-process, and final products to ensure conformance to project and industry standards.
- Monitor and document application parameters including surface preparation, film thickness, curing, and finish quality.
- Maintain and improve quality control procedures and inspection criteria throughout production stages.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and safety teams to support operational excellence.
- Support the training of painters and technicians on proper finishing techniques and quality expectations.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, including inspection records, nonconformance reports, and compliance logs.
- Assist with audits, customer inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
- Associate degree in Science, Tech or related field is a plus, (equivalent experience considered).
- The right culture fit is extremely important. Candidate must be willing and eager to learn the operation.
- 1–5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing, industrial finishing, or commercial painting environment.
- Familiarity with inspection tools and methods (e.g., DFT gauges, gloss meters, adhesion testers).
- Understanding of surface preparation and industrial paint/coating systems (e.g., epoxy, urethane, powder coat).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and work orders.
- Experience working with or supporting Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement processes.
- Familiarity with environmental and safety compliance related to paint and coatings operations.
