Communications Coordinator
Location: Downtown Asheville, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $50,000/year
Type: Full-time, in-person

A mission-driven organization in downtown Asheville is seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead content creation, manage outreach platforms, and help share meaningful stories with the broader community. This full-time, in-person role is perfect for a creative, organized communicator who thrives in a purpose-filled, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a clear, consistent communications plan across print, web, and social media

  • Write and manage engaging content for newsletters, websites, bulletins, and digital platforms

  • Maintain a user-friendly, up-to-date website (Wix experience a plus)

  • Manage social media channels, schedule posts, and monitor engagement

  • Coordinate press releases, media relations, and community announcements

  • Produce and distribute weekly bulletins and printed materials

  • Track communication performance and adjust strategies to improve outreach

  • Collaborate with staff and community leaders to align messaging and support events

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven setting

  • Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience with email platforms, social media tools, and website management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a values-based environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field preferred
