Job Title: Saw Operator
Summary:
Express Pros is seeking a skilled Saw Operator to join our operations team. The primary responsibility is to interpret work order blueprints and design requirements, select appropriate materials, set up saws, and cut materials per specifications. This role is essential to feeding the machine shop and weld shop with accurately prepared materials while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, first shift
- Overtime may be available during weekdays and weekends
Responsibilities:
- Read job specifications to determine material requirements and saw adjustments
- Position guides, stops, and fixtures to secure and direct workpieces
- Align layout marks with die or blade and set controls for speed/feed rates
- Monitor machine operation for defects or malfunctions
- Measure workpiece dimensions for accuracy
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces
- Maintain saws (replace blades, monitor coolant/oil levels, clean equipment)
- Load/unload steel trucks and verify material accuracy
- Organize steel inventory and assist with annual physical inventory
- Maintain a clean work area and return tools to designated places
- Assist other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed instructions
- Experience with automated/semi-automated band saws and non-ferrous saws preferred
- Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes (required)
- Forklift experience preferred
- Proficient in using tape measures and calipers
- Reliable transportation
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Demands:
- Regular standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception)
Work Environment:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration
- Loud noise level
