Pattern Assistant – Entry Level
Express Pros- Akron is looking for a mechanically inclined individual who wants to learn a skilled trade in a small shop environment. If you have experience in manufacturing, construction, woodworking, or using hand/power tools, we’ll train you!
About the Job
As a Pattern Assistant, you’ll help make and repair the patterns used to create cast metal parts for large industrial equipment. This job involves hands-on work, learning new skills, and working closely with experienced pattern makers.
What You’ll Do
- Help build, modify, and repair wood or metal patterns used for casting parts
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools
- Read basic drawings and measurements (we’ll train as needed)
- Work with manufacturing and shop teams to make sure patterns fit and function correctly
- Keep patterns organized, stored, and in good condition
- Follow safety rules and use PPE
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical aptitude — you like working with your hands
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, carpentry, or similar work
- Willing to learn a specialty trade
- Able to read a tape measure, basic drawings, or willing to learn
- Good attention to detail
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a workshop/foundry environment
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Woodworking experience
- Experience with manual or CNC tools
