Trailer Mechanic
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trailers to ensure they are safe, reliable, and operating properly. The ideal candidate will have mechanical knowledge, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience working with trailer systems.
Responsibilities
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers
Diagnose and repair trailer components including:
Air brake systems
Suspension systems
Electrical systems
Tires and wheel assemblies
Replace worn or damaged parts as needed
Inspect trailers for defects and identify additional repair needs
Mount, dismount, install, rotate, and balance tires and wheel assemblies
Perform welding repairs and fabrication work as needed
Utilize welding skills including gas, aluminum, arc, and wire-feed processes
Complete repair documentation and work orders accurately
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Work closely with the shop team to complete repairs efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
Previous trailer repair or heavy equipment mechanical experience preferred
Knowledge of trailer suspension, brakes, tires, and electrical systems
Welding/fabrication experience required
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete repairs independently
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to use hand tools and shop equipment
Willingness to continue learning and stay current with industry changes
Preferred Experience
3+ years of related mechanic experience preferred
Experience with commercial trailers or fleet maintenance is a plus
