Driver Manager
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
Position Summary
The Driver Manager serves as the primary liaison between the company, drivers, and the transportation industry. This role is responsible for supporting drivers by managing workload, payroll concerns, time-off requests, equipment issues, and daily operational needs. The Driver Manager ensures drivers have the resources, information, and support necessary to operate safely, efficiently, and successfully.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Support & Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned drivers.
- Manage driver workload, scheduling, and load assignments.
- Coordinate freight movements and communicate pickup, delivery, and customer requirements.
- Ensure drivers receive accurate route, load, and securement instructions.
- Assist drivers with payroll questions, equipment issues, and time-off requests.
- Monitor driver performance and utilization.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor Hours of Service compliance and review violations with drivers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and FMCSA regulations.
- Participate in accident, incident, and workers' compensation processes.
- Coordinate post-accident response and communicate with Safety and Human Resources as needed.
Customer & Fleet Management
- Match freight and equipment to driver qualifications and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate shipment and driver information in company systems.
- Communicate shipment status, delays, and service issues to customers and internal departments.
- Assist in resolving service failures and customer concerns.
Leadership
- Build positive relationships with drivers through consistent communication and support.
- Participate in driver coaching, reviews, and performance improvement efforts.
- Promote company policies, procedures, and operational initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the trucking and transportation industry.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation safety practices.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems and computer software.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours driver needs when necessary.
