Galvanizer / Coating Associate – Job Description
The Galvanizer / Coating Associate is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal parts while ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This role supports galvanizing and coating operations, maintains equipment, and collaborates with team members to meet production goals and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare steel parts for galvanizing and coating processes, including acid immersion (pickling) and pre-treatment procedures.
Perform daily pre-pickling processes and ensure proper material handling prior to coating.
Apply coatings using powder coating equipment, including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
Operate and monitor coating and galvanizing equipment, observing gauges and performance to detect defects or inconsistencies.
Bake/finish coated parts at specified temperatures and within required timeframes.
Inspect parts before, during, and after coating to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Identify parts that cannot be galvanized (e.g., oversized, cast iron, or structurally unsuitable materials).
Recognize when modifications (such as drilling holes) are required and coordinate approvals as needed.
Complete all required paperwork, checklists, and production documentation accurately.
Ensure all work meets company standards for quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Operations & Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance on galvanizing and coating equipment.
Maintain department operational standards, including cleanliness and safety compliance.
Assist in troubleshooting process or equipment issues and report concerns promptly.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workflow, safety, and efficiency.
Team Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with department leads regarding production status, issues, and potential reruns.
Collaborate with supervisors and managers to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
Assist in training new employees on processes, safety procedures, and best practices.
Help implement company policies and procedures as directed by leadership.
Fill in across roles within the department as needed, demonstrating cross-functional knowledge.
Customer & Quality Focus
Provide outstanding customer service and support customer satisfaction goals.
Ensure all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications.
Maintain strong internal relationships to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
