Summer Parks Maintenance Worker
Department: Parks & Recreation Employment Type: Seasonal / Full-Time (Summer) Reports To: Parks Supervisor
Position Summary
The Summer Parks Maintenance Worker performs a variety of landscaping and light custodial duties to maintain the appearance, safety, and cleanliness of city parks and grounds. This seasonal position supports the Parks Department in providing well-maintained outdoor spaces for community use.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general landscaping tasks including weeding, planting, laying bark dust, and installing sod
Maintain landscaped areas, flower beds, turf, and park grounds
Assist with park improvements and seasonal projects
Perform light custodial work such as trash removal and general site clean-up
Operate hand tools and basic landscaping equipment safely and effectively
Drive and operate a city vehicle to transport tools, materials, and supplies
Follow all safety guidelines and department procedures
Physical Requirements
Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and standing
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Oregon Driver License (ODL) with a clean driving record
Ability to safely operate city vehicles
Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
Prior landscaping or maintenance experience preferred but not required
Work Environment
Primarily outdoor work in parks and public spaces
Exposure to heat, sun, dust, and varying weather conditions
Seasonal summer position with potential for full-time hours
