Accounting Administrative Generalist

$25-$30/hour [DOE] | Temp to hire | On site M-F located in NE Portland

 

SUMMARY:
This role will primarily focus on accounts payable and will report directly to the Controller. In addition to core accounting duties, the position will involve a variety of projects and administrative responsibilities.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles and demonstrate a proven ability to thrive in a self-directed, adaptable role within a collaborative team or small business environment. Prior success as a high-performing employee or intern is highly valued.

 

Responsibilities & Job Duties:

· Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, vendor communication, and payment execution (checks, EFTs, and online).

· Reconcile processed transactions by verifying entries and comparing system reports to account balances.

· Oversee expense transactions by analyzing invoices and expense reports, allocating costs to appropriate cost centers, and processing accurate and timely employee reimbursements.

· Maintain vendor accounts by reconciling accounts; monthly statements, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring proper documentation.

· Collaborate with internal teams and provide administrative support to the Controller, including assistance with accounts receivable and special projects.

· Support document management by scanning, filing, and maintaining accurate historical records.

· Coordinate office supply orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Preferred Qualifications

· 3 years’ experience in a similar or current role.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated; strong initiative and accuracy in work.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Great Plains Dynamics, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a small team size.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
