Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves managing front desk operations, providing exceptional patient service, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate smooth patient intake processes.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to ensure proper billing.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handling inquiries and appointment confirmations.
  • Maintain and update patient records within various EHR systems, including EMR platforms like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
  • Assist with medical billing and collections, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation review.
  • Process payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances efficiently while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Support administrative functions such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure accurate documentation review.
  • Handle office management duties including supply inventory, appointment reminders, and general clerical support.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and insurance verification processes.
  • Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite efficiently.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Experience with dental terminology and dental office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry.
