Retail Journeyman HVAC Installer
Pay: $35.00–$48.00 per hour (DOE)
Location: Portland, OR
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (30-minute lunch). Overtime, early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends may be required.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Retail Journeyman HVAC Installer to install residential replacement and retrofit heating and air conditioning systems. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead apprentices while delivering quality workmanship and an excellent customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Install residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, ductwork, and accessories.
- Install refrigeration line sets, braze connections, evacuate systems, perform startups, testing, and basic troubleshooting.
- Install duct systems, ventilation, drain lines, and low-voltage controls.
- Ensure all work meets applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and safety standards.
- Lead, train, and support apprentices and helpers on installation best practices.
- Maintain clean, organized jobsites, vehicles, and accurate job documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- EPA Type II or Universal EPA Certification.
- Strong knowledge of residential HVAC installation, electrical fundamentals, refrigeration, ductwork, and mechanical codes.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Experience mentoring apprentices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Must provide basic installation hand tools.
- Willingness to obtain or maintain NATE Certification.

- Washington 06A Electrical License
- Water Heater Certification
