Job Title: Painter
Department: Fabrication
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint and protective coatings, and maintaining the appearance and safety of warehouse buildings, equipment, and structures. This role requires knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and safe handling of paints, solvents, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, sealants, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Paint warehouse walls, ceilings, floors, doors, shelving, and equipment.
- Inspect painted surfaces and perform touch-ups or repairs as needed.
- Mix and match paint colors according to specifications.
- Maintain painting tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow safety procedures when working with chemicals, ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
- Ensure work areas are clean and organized after completing projects.
- Report maintenance issues or supply needs to supervisors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in commercial, industrial, or warehouse painting.
- Knowledge of painting materials, techniques, and equipment.
- Ability to read and follow work orders and safety instructions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Familiarity with OSHA or workplace safety regulations is an advantage.
