Job Full Description
The Crane and Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment to move steel components, metal building materials, and finished products throughout the facility. This position supports production, shipping, receiving, and inventory operations while maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles.
- Transport steel panels, beams, purlins, and construction materials throughout the yard and production areas.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Verify material quantities and inspect products for damage.
- Assist with inventory control and material organization.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Assist production and shipping personnel as needed.
- Complete equipment and material-handling records accurately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for extended periods
