Quality Assurance Technician Job Description:

Wage: $16.66–$25.75/hr

Location: Centralia, WA

Shift: Flexible, training on various shifts at the start

This is a Quality Assurance Technician role in a bakery manufacturing environment, responsible for enforcing food safety and quality systems. The position involves ensuring compliance with customer expectations, regulatory standards, and SQF requirements. You'll work cross-functionally with production, QA, and maintenance teams to maintain high food safety standards and resolve quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sensory (organoleptic) testing of baked goods.

  • Uphold GMPs, FDA, SSOP, CCP, and SQF standards.

  • Support pre-operational inspections and identify non-conforming products.

  • Participate in plant audits, training, and internal inspections.

  • Handle sanitation checks, sample testing, paperwork review, and product traceability.

  • Collaborate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving tasks.

  • Coach team members on food safety procedures and expectations.

  • Maintain documentation and utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting.

Basic Requirements:

  • Able to consume bread products containing wheat for organoleptic testing.
  • Willing and able to train across multiple shifts; flexibility is essential.

  • Ability to use Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to coach, train, mentor, and empower fellow team members to keep operations running smoothly
  • Ability to lift, move, and work around industrial equipment.

  • Able to understand and apply food safety standards including HACCP and GMPs and enforce them constructively to the crew when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or food production setting. Those who have been a quality assurance worker in the past are encouraged to apply.

  • Familiarity with food safety, handling, and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Additional Notes:

  • You'll be trained on various shifts before being assigned a permanent schedule.

  • Work environment includes fast-paced production areas with machinery, moderate noise, and a controlled temperature range (65–68°F).
