Temporary Shelter Assistant

Location: Everett, WA
Pay: $20.24 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
Duration: December 15 – January 11 (including holidays)

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Temporary Shelter Assistant to support overnight operations at a local emergency shelter. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter season. 

• Assist clients during overnight stays, including intake and orientation.
• Set up and take down sleeping areas (requires heavy lifting up to 50 lbs).
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas and restrooms.
• Provide support and answer questions for shelter residents.
• Monitor safety and enforce shelter rules, including addressing disruptive behavior when necessary.
• Handle janitorial tasks and ensure the facility remains organized.
• Safeguard personal belongings and follow shelter security guidelines.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as moving beds and carrying water.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, positive demeanor.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in conflict situations.
• Dependable and punctual, with flexibility to work holidays.
• Comfortable working overnight shifts.

• Weapons are strictly prohibited; clients must check in any non-firearm weapons upon entry.
• The shelter is not responsible for lost or stolen items; employees should keep personal belongings secure and on their person whenever possible.
