Job Full Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Laser Programming: Develop, modify, and optimize laser programs using specialized software (such as CAD/CAM and laser control software) to achieve precise cutting, engraving, or marking on various materials.
- Material Selection and Preparation: Choose appropriate materials for laser processing based on project requirements. Prepare and handle materials, ensuring they are properly aligned and secured for accurate laser operations.
- Machine Setup: Calibrate and set up laser machines, ensuring they are properly configured for specific tasks. Adjust focus, power, and other settings to achieve desired outcomes.
- Quality Control: Monitor laser operations to maintain high-quality standards. Perform regular quality checks and adjustments during the production process to ensure accurate and consistent results.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to laser systems, such as power fluctuations, alignment problems, and software glitches. Diagnose problems and implement solutions promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and production teams to understand project requirements and provide input on design feasibility and laser process capabilities.
- Safety and Maintenance: Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Perform routine maintenance on laser machines, including cleaning optics and replacing components as needed.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of laser settings, parameters, and program modifications. Document completed projects, including images and relevant information, for reference and quality assurance purposes.
- Process Improvement: Continuously explore opportunities to enhance laser processing techniques and workflows. Propose and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and product quality.
- Training: Train and mentor junior laser technicians or operators, sharing your expertise in laser programming, machine setup, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or associate's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in laser programming software and CAD/CAM tools.
- In-depth understanding of different laser types, their applications, and material interactions.
- Strong technical aptitude for machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose and address technical issues.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Prior experience in operating and programming laser systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of laser safety protocols and practices.
