Shipping Clerk (Tempe, AZ)
Pay: $16 - $18 DOE
Schedule: 40/hour weeks open availability
Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Shipping Clerk to prepare, package, document, and coordinate outgoing shipments. This role focuses on accurate documentation, communication, and coordination, rather than high-volume daily freight. The Shipping Clerk will manage both domestic and international shipments, ensuring orders are shipped on time, to the correct destination, and with complete and accurate paperwork. While direct experience with international shipping is helpful, we value candidates with strong attention to detail, solid computer skills, and a genuine interest in learning shipping operations through on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
Order Fulfillment
- Pull, pack, seal, and label items for shipment according to company standards
- Ensure shipments are properly prepared to protect product integrity during transit
Documentation & Compliance
- Communicate with the sales department and international contacts via email to prepare shipping documentation
- Create and process domestic and international documents, including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Bills of lading
- Shipper’s Letters of Instruction
- Generate internal packing slips and shipping reports to support accurate invoicing
Carrier & Customer Coordination
- Communicate with customers to confirm carrier preferences
- Schedule carriers for pickups and provide required shipping documentation
- Load shipments efficiently and ensure all paperwork is complete prior to dispatch
Quality Control
- Verify order contents for accuracy against shipping documents
- Inspect outgoing shipments for damage or discrepancies to ensure customer satisfaction
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain accurate records of goods shipped
- Report discrepancies, damages, or shortages to management
- Work closely with internal departments to resolve shipping issues promptly
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- PDF creation and editing
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, primarily via email
- Good time management skills and ability to meet shipping deadlines
- Physical stamina to move inventory and perform packing duties
