Human Resource Specialist Opportunity
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Human Resource Specialist to support a well-respected local nonprofit organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional with a background in human resources, payroll, accounts payable, and benefits administration who enjoys a fast-paced environment and making a positive impact within the community.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality while supporting both Human Resources and Finance functions.
What You Will Do
- Support recruitment efforts, including posting job announcements, coordinating hiring activities, conducting reference checks, and assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Prepare employment correspondence, including offer letters, rejection letters, and employment verification documents.
- Assist employees with questions regarding benefits, retirement plans, and HR-related policies.
- Perform benefits administration tasks, including enrollments, changes, updates, and monthly audits.
- Provide administrative support to management by preparing reports, correspondence, meeting minutes, presentations, and other business documents.
- Respond to inquiries regarding personnel, purchasing, insurance, facilities, and agency operations.
- Maintain confidential personnel and organizational records.
- Support Finance operations with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll functions, deposits, credit card reconciliations, EFT processing, and timesheet administration.
- Enter and maintain information in agency databases and generate reports as needed.
- Coordinate meetings, special events, and training sessions.
- Assist with agency audits, annual reporting, strategic planning documents, and policy updates.
- Provide backup support for office operations, facilities coordination, technology equipment, and agency vehicles.
- Represent the organization at community meetings and events as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing complex and confidential administrative support.
- Previous experience in Human Resources, including employee documentation and HR processes.
- Experience supporting finance functions, including Accounts Payable and payroll processing.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, or early mornings as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
