Z977

Located in San Andreas, CA

Pay: $24-26/hr

Job Full Description

Job Title: Temporary Public Transit Survey Staff
Location: San Andreas, CA (primarily Valley Springs)
Dates: August 5 – August 8, 2025
Training: Mandatory one-hour training on Monday, August 5 at 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Pay: $24–$26/hour, depending on experience

About the Role

We’re hiring 4–5 friendly and reliable individuals to assist with a Public Transit Customer Experience Survey in San Andreas, CA. This project will help improve transit service for the local community and is part of a broader planning effort. Our team has successfully run similar surveys in Redding and Eureka — now we’re bringing this work to San Andreas.

Schedule

  • Shifts: Typically run from 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM
(Some shifts may begin earlier or end later depending on the route)

  • Breaks: Most rest and lunch breaks will be at Vista Del Lago stop in Valley Springs
(Near a convenience store and food options — however, bringing a packed lunch is recommended to avoid long lines)

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Survey Staff Member, you’ll ride public transit buses to distribute surveys and track ridership activity.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Boarding transit buses and engaging politely with passengers

  • Distributing and collecting customer experience surveys

  • Accurately recording how many passengers get on and off at each stop

  • Documenting all ridership data using a provided tracking form

  • Representing the project in a professional and friendly manner

Survey Data Collection Duties

You will fill out a ridership log during each bus run. Instructions include:

  1. Start of Run:

    • Record the number of passengers already on board (do not include yourself or the driver)

    • If empty, write 0

  2. At Each Stop:

    • Record how many people get on and get off

    • If the stop is bypassed, write “–” for both columns

    • Ask the driver if you're unsure of the stop’s name

  3. End of Run:

    • Record how many passengers remain on the bus (again, excluding yourself and the driver)

  4. Accuracy Check:

    • If you have time, total the boardings and alightings

    • Check that:
Start Count + Onboardings − Alightings = End Count

    • If something doesn’t add up and you remember where it went wrong, mark it on the form

    • If unsure, leave the form as-is and try to improve tracking on the next run

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will be:
?? Friendly and outgoing
?? Punctual and dependable
?? Presentable in appearance
?? Comfortable spending up to 3 hours at a time on a bus
?? Focused and detail-oriented when recording data
