Purchasing Assistant
Pay: Up to $32/hr

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join its procurement team. This position supports the purchasing function by creating, processing, and tracking Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchase orders from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, issue, and maintain purchase orders for multiple internal departments.

Track purchase order status from creation to delivery, ensuring vendor compliance with required timelines.

Review purchase order confirmations for accuracy in delivery dates, quantities, and pricing before updating records.

Generate and analyze open purchase order reports to identify potential delays.

Send purchase order revisions to suppliers as required.

Coordinate with account management teams to confirm specifications and artwork for new or repeat orders.

Communicate production or delivery delays promptly to buyers.

Identify and escalate potential issues affecting procurement schedules.

Monitor office supply inventory and replenish as needed to avoid shortages.

Support additional procurement and administrative projects as assigned.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in business or related field preferred).

At least 2 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic Excel.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting with minimal supervision.

Experience with ERP or purchasing systems (NetSuite preferred).

Knowledge of supply chain processes, vendor management, and inventory control best practices.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Office-based role in a climate-controlled setting with frequent computer and phone use.

Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Regular use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, phones, and calculators.
