Maintenance & Facilities Manager - $120-$130K/Year
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance & Facilities Manager oversees all maintenance functions and facility operations for the organization. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in the repair, troubleshooting, and upkeep of equipment used in production or operational environments. Responsibilities include managing facility conditions, ensuring equipment reliability, supporting budget planning, and maintaining safe, efficient working environments. The manager also reviews and approves work performed by external service providers and regularly inspects sites for issues requiring attention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment & Facility Maintenance

Direct maintenance and repair activities for all equipment, systems, and facility infrastructure.

Assist maintenance staff with hands-on repairs when needed.

Ensure mechanical, electrical, and utility systems operate safely and efficiently.

Maintain clean, safe, and compliant facilities.

Implement and enforce workplace safety standards.

Coordinate internal teams and outside vendors for repairs, upgrades, and installations.

Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, including work orders, equipment records, and parts inventory.
Strategy

Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Establish and manage a preventive maintenance program to reduce equipment downtime.

Plan and schedule maintenance tasks, installations, and facility-related activities.

Participate in long-term planning and budgeting with cross-functional teams.

Oversee the use and accuracy of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Leadership
-
Lead, coach, and support maintenance staff.

Promote a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Assign workloads, build schedules, and monitor progress.
-
Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations for maintenance personnel.
Safety and Environmental Compliance

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Oversee safety protocols and emergency procedures for maintenance and facility teams.

Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Expense Management

Prepare and monitor the maintenance budget.

Review vendor agreements and service proposals to ensure cost-effective outcomes.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Interdepartmental Communication

Report maintenance issues, equipment failures, and facility needs to organizational leadership.

Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant combination of education and experience in maintenance management.

Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management role within maintenance or facility operations.

Strong technical understanding of equipment, mechanical systems, and maintenance practices.

Ability to lead teams and support employee development.

Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Experience using CMMS or similar platforms.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout facilities.

Ability to climb ladders or access elevated areas as needed.

Manual dexterity for working with tools, small components, and equipment.

Facility:

Work primarily occurs in operational or production settings, which may involve noise, fumes, chemicals, and machinery.

Exposure to moving equipment, electrical systems, and other hazards; proper safety practices must be followed.

May require flexible scheduling, including evenings or weekends, to support emergencies or urgent repairs.

Regular coordination with production, quality, and operational teams.

Must be able to perform effectively during high-pressure situations such as unexpected breakdowns.
