Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer & Illustrator for an established manufacturing company in Agoura Hills, CA.
This position is responsible for creating clear, accurate technical manuals, instructional materials, and illustrations for mechanical and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate has strong technical writing skills, experience with graphic design and 3D modeling software, and the ability to translate complex engineering information into easy-to-understand instructions.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, edit, and maintain technical manuals, installation guides, and operating instructions.

Create detailed technical illustrations, diagrams, and product documentation.

Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and mechanical designs.

Collaborate with engineering, product development, and customer service teams to ensure documentation accuracy.

Review and update existing manuals based on product changes and feedback.

Ensure technical documentation meets applicable safety standards, including ANSI Z535.6.

Create technical service bulletins and product updates.

Maintain organized documentation files, templates, and revision records.

Manage multiple documentation projects while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications

3+ years of experience in technical writing, technical documentation, or a related field.

Strong technical writing, proofreading, and editing skills.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or SolidWorks Composer.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic drawings.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.

Experience with ANSI Z535.6 safety documentation standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.

Experience in manufacturing, automotive equipment, or industrial products is a plus.

Professional office environment with occasional visits to warehouse or manufacturing facilities.

May require occasional travel for product evaluations and training.

Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
