Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer for an established manufacturing company in Santa Paula, CA.
This position is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical equipment and structural components. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical design, structural analysis, and product development, with the ability to take projects from initial concept through testing and production.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical equipment, structural components, and assemblies.

Perform engineering calculations, stress analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Create, review, and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Develop and execute product testing plans to evaluate safety, performance, and reliability.

Identify design issues, investigate product failures, and implement corrective solutions.

Ensure products meet applicable engineering, safety, and industry standards.

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and product development teams.

Support prototype development, testing, certification, and production improvements.

Recommend design modifications to improve product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Manage engineering projects and ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required.

Experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or structural engineering.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.

Strong understanding of structural calculations, stress analysis, and FEA.

Experience designing or evaluating mechanical assemblies, steel structures, or load-bearing equipment.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Experience with manufacturing processes, welded structures, hydraulics, or heavy machinery is preferred.

Familiarity with product testing, certification standards, or regulatory compliance is a plus.

Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus but not required.

Full-time, onsite position in Santa Paula, CA.

Work involves both office-based engineering and hands-on activities in manufacturing and testing environments.

Must be comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment.

Occasional lifting of up to 45 lbs. may be required.
