Chef / Café Program Coordinator
$18 to $22 per hour DOE
St. Lucie County
Express Employment Professionals is working with a local nonprofit organization providing meals, clothing, life skills education, and support services to individuals and families in crisis throughout the community for a Chef/Café Program Coordinator to oversee meal preparation and kitchen operations for our community dinner program serving homeless and vulnerable individuals four nights per week.
This role includes menu planning, food preparation, inventory management, volunteer coordination, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare large-volume community meals
- Coordinate and lead volunteers during meal service
- Manage food inventory, purchasing, and kitchen organization
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- Operate within budget guidelines
- Foster a respectful and welcoming environment for guests, volunteers, and staff
Qualifications
- Experience in cooking, food service, or kitchen management preferred
- Ability to lead volunteers and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of food safety practices
Schedule
- Approximately 32 hours per week
- Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening meal service
- Some flexibility for special events and holiday meals
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
