Construction Accounts Payable & Job Costing Specialist
Location: Stuart, FL 34994
Pay: $25–$35 per hour, based on experience (BOE)
Schedule: Full-time
Detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong background in construction accounts payable, subcontractor compliance, job costing, and vendor payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume vendor and subcontractor invoices accurately and within established deadlines.
- Review invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, supporting documentation, and appropriate job cost and cost code allocations.
- Verify subcontractor agreements, W-9s, insurance certificates, licenses, and other required compliance documents.
- Obtain, review, and maintain lien waivers and releases required before processing payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records and supporting documentation.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams regarding invoices, documentation, and payment status.
- Assist with job cost reporting, account reconciliations, and other construction accounting functions as needed.
- Follow established accounting procedures and support timely month-end closing activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry.
- At least two years of recent Accounts Payable experience, preferably in construction.
- Working knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and cost code allocation.
- Experience reviewing subcontractor documentation and managing lien waivers and releases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualification: Experience with Sage 100 Contractor or comparable construction accounting software.
