Technical Support Specialist

Location: Savage, MN
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (On-site)

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Technical Support Specialist for a leading manufacturer known for excellence in innovation and customer service. This position plays a vital role in supporting customers and field service technicians by delivering expert troubleshooting, parts research, training, and occasional on-site technical support. If you’ve got strong mechanical aptitude and love solving technical puzzles, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer & Technical Support:

  • Provide phone and online support for machine assembly, troubleshooting, and repair

  • Assist customers and Field Service Techs with part identification, availability, and pricing

  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to guide technical diagnostics and solutions

  • Research and source obsolete parts and customer-specific needs

Training & Documentation:

  • Conduct technical training on topics like hydraulics, electrical systems, blueprint reading, and machine assembly

  • Support development of the internal knowledge base and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Offer one-on-one coaching and training for Service Team members

Hands-On & Field Work:

  • Occasionally travel to perform on-site repair and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

  • Operate, service, and support machine systems including saws, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Servos

Additional Duties:

  • Collaborate with Service leadership to enhance department processes and standards

  • Represent the company with professionalism and adherence to core values

  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; hydraulic systems experience required

  • Ability to troubleshoot 24VDC – 480VAC systems

  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Servos a plus

  • Basic machining experience (drilling, milling, sawing)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and customer-focused

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
