Job Full Description

Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Wood Machine Operator / Molder Operator for a local, well-established millwork company. This role offers a great opportunity for individuals with woodshop or woodworking experience who are ready to learn and grow into a specialized role. Training is available for the right candidate!

You’ll operate and maintain wood milling equipment (including molders) to meet high standards of precision and quality. Ideal candidates will have mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and a passion for craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate wood molders and other milling equipment according to job specifications.

  • Set up, tear down, and adjust machines including head changes and carbide tooling.

  • Create and remove patterns on the molder.

  • Adjust cutting knives, pressure bars, and tables using handwheels to achieve proper depth and cut position.

  • Maintain dimensional tolerances within +/- .005”.

  • Examine stock for defects and make corrections as needed to prevent waste.

  • Read and interpret job sheets, work orders, and delivery tickets accurately.

  • Use cutting tools such as chop saws, table saws, routers, re-saws, drills, etc.

  • Handle and operate hand tools with proficiency and safety.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machine setup and adjustment

    • Attention to detail and precision in measuring and cutting

    • Ability to learn job-specific software and follow technical documents

    • Comfortable working with hand and power tools

    • Basic math and problem-solving skills

  • Preferred but not required:

    • Prior experience in wood manufacturing or a millwork environment

    • Experience operating molders or similar machinery

    • Familiarity with tolerance levels in wood machining

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly

    • Standing for extended periods and manual dexterity
