Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled and detail-driven CAD Operator to support a specialized technical organization. In this temporary role, you will serve as the primary resource for Computer-Aided Design (CAD), producing high-quality drafting packages, supporting project design activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. This position is ideal for a CAD professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys collaboration, problem-solving, and precision in drafting.
Key Responsibilities
Primary CAD Duties

Serve as the main CAD resource for the organization, preparing and issuing complete drafting/design packages in a timely and professional manner.

Create, modify, and update drawings using company and government drafting standards.

Draft block, single-line, interconnection, detail, and pin-out drawings using the CAD library.

Convert master sketches into detailed drawings that illustrate proposed installations within existing facilities.

Review CAD drawings for accuracy, quality, and compliance with established standards.

Conduct drawing and technology research to support ongoing design improvements.
Project Coordination & Support

Coordinate closely with design staff, technicians, and other project personnel to incorporate concepts and technical information into drawing packages.

Identify and document project-related activities and ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule to support administrative, procurement, and construction needs.

Visit proposed installation sites to create rough sketches as needed.

Explain drawings to construction teams and engineers, interpreting specifications and providing clarification or adjustments when necessary.

Review completed construction drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
File / Equipment Management

Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings.

Maintain, support, and operate associated plotters and printers.
Other Requirements

Ability to work effectively in both independent and team settings with minimal oversight.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent project changes.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Occasional travel may be required.

Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance and work in a secure environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Strong working knowledge of CAD standards, drafting/engineering practices, and PC applications.

Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and current versions of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Familiarity with engineering concepts and terminology.

Accuracy and effectiveness in electronic drafting.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Education & Experience
-
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Preferred: Post-secondary and/or technical school education.
-
Required: Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible CAD drafting experience, preferably with emphasis in electrical, civil, or construction-related drafting.
