Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a full-time opportunity with a growing local firm!
This role is ideal for a self-motivated, responsible accounting professional who enjoys managing multiple priorities and working independently while collaborating with a team. The position supports bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting-related services for a diverse client base and offers long-term stability with growth potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly bookkeeping and account reconciliations for multiple entities
- Process payroll for multiple clients with varying payroll schedules
- Prepare and file quarterly payroll tax reports for multiple states
- Complete year-end bookkeeping closeouts
- Assist with preparation of tax workpapers for assigned accounts
- Maintain accuracy, organization, and compliance across all assigned tasks
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, double-entry accounting, and general bookkeeping processes
- Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping and payroll experience
- Accounting degree or certificate preferred
- Thorough knowledge of payroll laws and willingness to stay current on payroll tax changes
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently
- Strong time-management skills with ownership over productivity and deadlines
- High attention to detail, especially with payroll-related work, including use of internal controls when appropriate
- Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively with a team
- Overtime may be required at times to meet deadlines
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive pay: $24–$30 per hour, depending on experience
