Production Tech / Machine Operator
Location: Hamburg, NJ
Pay rate: $18.00/hr.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 1:45PM-10:15PM
SUMMARY
Performs a variety of functions with a high degree of proficiency in the manufacturing process of a diverse mix of products. Tasks include, but are not limited to; molding, spray coating, assembly, fabrication, inspection, rework / repair, and quality assessment of parts and components, in a safe manner, to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Safety: Ensures that proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn for each production process as outlined by the Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Maintains a clean and safe work environment consistent with company safety goals and objectives.
- Product Quality: Monitors product and/or process quality targets as outlined in product and/or process documentation (i.e., Manufacturing Quality Plans (MQP), Set-Up Sheets, and Work Instructions) and stops processes when documented limits cannot be achieved. Reports all “out of control” to Foreperson or Supervisor.
- Equipment / Process Efficiency: Performs assigned tasks following the documented process and ensures that the documented target rate is achieved. Informs Foreperson or Supervisor when rates cannot be achieved.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
JOB DUTIES
- Transfers process and product information to other production technicians and/or supervisor as necessary to ensure timely response to essential actions.
- Operates a variety of production / processing equipment where and when required to meet customer requirements.
- Assists co-workers in performing a variety of operations enabling an uninterrupted workflow.
- Acts as a fill-in process technician, when required, in areas where continuous production is necessary.
- Reports to the department Foreperson or Supervisor any condition affecting the quality or quality of work being produced.
- Reports to the department Foreperson or Supervisor all accidents or unsafe conditions in the work area.
- Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) and keeps work area clean at all times.
- Uses appropriate gauging equipment and methods (as defined in the Manufacturing Quality Plan – MQP) to monitor and maintain quality of the parts produced.
- Identifies discrepant parts, either visually or in conjunction with various gauging equipment, and completes the appropriate documentation required to identify the defects.
- Repairs and reworks discrepant parts using a variety of hand tools, motorized devices, and other equipment or materials required for parts to conform to customer requirements.
- Identifies parts that are not salvageable and assists the responsible Foreperson or Supervisor to coordinate the appropriate disposition.
- Transports work within the factory as required.
- Records work produced on a daily labor sheet as required.
- Prepares, completes and submits all records and reports on a timely basis.
- Maintains production, quality, and safety standards throughout the workday.
- Performs other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct responsibility however, communication to co-workers including those on prior or subsequent shifts, provide for a smooth transition of information and promote a spirit of teamwork. Follows the instructions of the department Foreperson or Supervisor, either written or verbal.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret general work instructions and procedures in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic math functions.
REASONING ABILITY
Performs a variety of routine operations which may vary from simple to moderately complex.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moderate physical exertion, including lifting, prolonged standing, good visual acuity and manual dexterity along with the physical skills required to operate equipment, gauges, etc. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The incumbent may be subjected to abnormally high temperatures, noise levels, and the presence of fumes, dust and dirt.
