Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled CNC Mill Machine Operator to support a growing manufacturing client. This role requires hands-on operation of vertical or horizontal CNC milling machines to produce precision parts by removing material from raw stock. Attention to detail and the ability to follow blueprints and machining instructions are essential.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Load tools, vises, and fixtures onto CNC milling machines

  • Secure raw materials on machine tables or workholding devices

  • Load and run CNC programs (G-code) from control panels or networks

  • Monitor machining cycles and adjust feeds, speeds, and tool offsets as needed

  • Observe chip load, coolant levels, and tool wear throughout operation

  • Inspect parts with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)

  • Verify compliance with dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements

  • Conduct in-process quality checks and document results

  • Change and reset worn or broken tools, optimizing tool life

  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements

  • Report machine issues or irregularities to maintenance or supervisory staff


Equipment & Tools Used

  • Vertical CNC mills (e.g., Haas VF series, Mazak VCN, Bridgeport VMC)

  • Horizontal CNC mills (e.g., Okuma, Makino)

  • Tool holders (CAT40, BT30), cutting tools, end mills, face mills

  • Digital height gauges, indicators, surface finish testers


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of CNC machining principles

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T

  • Familiarity with G-code programming, feeds, speeds, and machining operations

  • Basic math and trigonometry skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and keen attention to detail


Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory but a plus)

  • NIMS Machining Level I

  • CNC Operator certifications from trade schools or community colleges

  • OSHA 10/30-hour safety certification
