Manufacturing Methods Designer
Location: Watkins Glen, NY
Pay: $23-$25/hour (based on experience)

Our client, a well-established precision manufacturing company in Watkins Glen, NY, is seeking a Manufacturing Methods Designer to join their team. This role focuses on developing efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes and supporting new product introductions through collaboration and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Design & Improvement

  • Develop and document new manufacturing processes

  • Optimize existing workflows to improve productivity and reduce waste

  • Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies

Tooling & Equipment Selection

  • Specify and support the design of tools, jigs, fixtures, and production machinery

  • Evaluate and recommend automation or technology enhancements

Product Design Collaboration

  • Work closely with product designers and engineers to ensure manufacturability (DFM)

  • Provide design feedback to improve production feasibility and efficiency

Prototyping & Testing

  • Oversee prototype builds and pilot production runs

  • Analyze testing outcomes to refine and finalize manufacturing methods

Documentation & Compliance

  • Create process documentation, work instructions, and production specifications

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards

Cost Estimation & Feasibility

  • Estimate production costs and project timelines

  • Conduct feasibility studies for new products and process changes

Technology Research

  • Stay current with advancements in CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and robotics

  • Recommend new technologies that support productivity and innovation

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)

  • Experience with simulation and process analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Arena)

  • Familiarity with ERP and MES systems

  • Strong knowledge of materials, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
