Job Full Description
Metal Finishing and Fabrication Technician
Responsibilities
- Operate Dual Action (DA) sanders to prepare and smooth metal surfaces for finishing or painting.
- Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Cut metal materials to specified dimensions using band saws and other cutting equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and cut lists.
- Operate clamp cell press brake machines while monitoring proper alignment and machine performance.
- Perform sandblasting to clean and prepare metal surfaces for finishing.
- Mask components as needed to prevent overblasting or damage.
- Apply primer, paint, and protective coatings using industrial spray equipment.
- Follow coating specifications, including color, thickness, and curing requirements.
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality workmanship.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial shop environment.
- Experience operating industrial equipment such as DA sanders, saws, sandblasters, or similar machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial painting, powder coating, or other finishing processes.
- Forklift and/or overhead crane certification.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment while following all safety protocols.
