Express Employment Professionals is working with an established precision manufacturing company in Rochester, NY to recruit an experienced Accounting & Financial Operations Manager.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys managing daily financial operations while providing valuable financial analysis to support business growth.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, preferably within manufacturing, and experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, and general ledger activities.
- Manage month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, profit margins, and overall financial performance.
- Manage manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, work-in-process (WIP), job costing, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Analyze production costs, job profitability, and estimated versus actual expenses.
- Partner with Purchasing and Operations to evaluate supplier costs, inventory spending, and purchasing decisions.
- Develop financial reports and dashboards to support management decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and AI tools.
- Work directly with company ownership and external accountants to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and month-end closing.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, WIP, and profitability analysis.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple financial responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with Fishbowl or other manufacturing ERP systems.
- Knowledge of financial forecasting, job costing, and budgeting.
- Familiarity with AI tools and accounting automation.
- Experience with international purchasing or supplier cost analysis.
