Controls Field Service Technician
Location: West Chester, OH
Pay: $32-$36/hr+
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years of experience in field service, quality control, or technical support with PLC exposure
- Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic, HMI databases, electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, and O&M manuals
- Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI systems, including basic programming and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including VFDs, chillers, boilers, and BAS integrations
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% (including overnight travel)
- Effective communication skills for working with customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve field issues independently
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-startup activities including system checks, component testing, and PLC/HMI I/O validation
- Lead equipment startup and commissioning at customer sites, ensuring proper system operation, sequencing, and communication between components
- Identify, document, and help resolve system issues, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors as needed
- Make minor PLC and HMI program adjustments to support system functionality and performance
- Train customer personnel on system operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs
- Complete detailed service reports, upload project documentation, and support project closeout activities
- Assist with in-house quality control, final assembly testing, and provide remote technical support to customers as needed
