Employment Type: Full‑Time
Salary Range: $15/Hr.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; on‑call rotation may be required.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Water Plant Operator Trainee. This entry‑level role is designed for candidates interested in learning the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of a municipal water treatment facility. Under the guidance of certified operators, the trainee will gain hands‑on experience and technical knowledge required to become a licensed Water Plant Operator.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified operators with daily plant operations, including monitoring pumps, motors, chemical feed systems, and SCADA controls.
- Conduct routine inspections and collect water samples for basic laboratory testing.
- Maintain accurate operational logs and follow applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and general facility upkeep.
- Participate in emergency response activities and after‑hours call‑outs as needed.
- Complete required training to obtain state operator certification.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and working indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Indoor and outdoor work environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Standing, walking, climbing, and manual dexterity required for extended periods.
