Job Description:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our clients team as a Log Scaler. This position begins as an apprenticeship, transitioning to a certified scaler role after successful completion of a 3–4 month training period. Apprentice wage starts at $18.50/hr. After certification wages range from $26.76-33.22/hr.
Duties Include:
- Identify tree species
- Measure lengths and diameters of logs (Gross Scale)
- Evaluate logs for defects and make deductions (Net Scale)
- Establish log grade
- Assign appropriate sorts, decks, and codes to each log
- Accurately enter all data into a hand-held computer
- Work outdoors in all types of weather
