Job Full Description

Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting production processes and equipment used in the manufacture of N95 respirators. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of manufacturing operations through equipment maintenance, process optimization, and the integration of automation technologies. The Manufacturing Engineer also provides technical support, develops process documentation, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company quality and productivity goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, all work must be done thinking “Safety First”.
  • For all on -site positions, must show up to work to perform job duties.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain CAD models, tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support production needs and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and refine manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support automation initiatives and assist in the integration of control systems and automated equipment.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address production and equipment issues.
  • Ensure all processes comply with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., NIOSH, OSHA, ISO).
  • Participate in equipment installation, validation, and performance qualification as needed.
  • Run test procedures, data collection and recording.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Get along with others, not creating a hostile work environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (The JD mentioned frequently standing, walking, sitting, using hands/arms)
  • Ability to work with and as a Team.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and 41+ pounds as a two-person lift.

Travel:

  • Travel may be required on occasion to other offices, vendor visits, or trade shows.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Teams and Internet usage.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, and personnel from various departments.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully, identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and production equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in PPE or medical device manufacturing preferred.
