Position Summary
The Risk, Safety, and Compliance Coordinator support and advances organizational risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Working closely with senior leadership, this role coordinates programs that enhance emergency preparedness, operational continuity, occupational safety, environmental health compliance, and institutional resilience.
Key responsibilities include emergency management planning, continuity of operations coordination, regulatory compliance oversight, insurance program support, student travel risk review, and comprehensive asset tracking. The coordinator maintains critical records related to facilities, safety systems, access control, security equipment, vehicles, and other risk-related assets. This position serves as a central partner in protecting people, property, and organizational operations through proactive planning, documentation, and compliance leadership. The starting wage is $34.01!
Essential Functions
- Emergency Management
- Develop, maintain, and distribute the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
- Coordinate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and training activities.
- Manage emergency notification systems and issue timely alerts when directed.
- Serve as a Safety Officer or designee during incident response.
- Ensure emergency procedures, evacuation maps, and safety postings are compliant and visible in all facilities.
- Continuity of Operations
- Lead the development and maintenance of a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
- Support departments in identifying essential functions and backup procedures.
- Coordinate continuity exercises and training.
- Assist with recovery efforts and after-action reviews following disruptions.
- Occupational Safety
- Maintain occupational safety compliance documentation, training records, and required reports.
- Oversee chemical inventory management and regulatory compliance.
- Develop, update, and administer safety programs aligned with OSHA standards.
- Coordinate procurement, inventory, and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Environmental Health
- Manage tracking and reporting of hazardous, universal, electronic, and medical/infectious waste.
- Conduct inspections to ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of regulated materials.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and public health regulations.
- Insurance Program Support
- Maintain inventories of insurable assets to ensure accurate coverage.
- Provide backup support for insurance administration, claims coordination, and internal insurance requests.
- Travel & Liability Waivers
- Review and approve travel documentation for compliance with institutional policies.
- Track and maintain signed liability waivers.
- Provide guidance on risk management requirements, forms, and deadlines.
- Asset Management
- Maintain records for safety and emergency management assets, including security systems, access controls, vehicles, and response equipment.
- Manage vehicle documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Compliance Reporting
- Prepare and submit required annual safety, security, and risk management reports.
- Coordinate regulatory reporting related to public safety, health, and environmental compliance.
- Other Duties

Screening Criteria
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Risk Management, Occupational Safety, Emergency Management, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, compliance, safety, or administrative coordination.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM).
- Formal OSHA, FEMA, or emergency management training.
