Job Overview:
Are you skilled with a heavy-duty bandsaw and comfortable using a tape measure down to the last 1/16th of an inch? A local metal workshop near the Tualatin River is hiring a Metal Cutting Technician with hands-on experience cutting steel and metal materials. This is not a helper role. We need someone who can jump in and start cutting metal accurately and efficiently.
This shop is known for its precision cuts and strong team environment. The average employee tenure here is six years. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and eventually train on forklifts to move large metal beams. If you're dependable, like working in a gritty environment, and enjoy working with your hands, this could be the long-term fit you’re looking for.
What We’re Looking For:

At least 1 to 2 years of experience using a heavy-duty bandsaw to cut metal

Strong math and measurement skills using a tape measure to all increments

Comfortable working in a physical environment with metal shavings and moving equipment

Steel-toed boots required on day one

Willingness to learn and operate forklifts

Commitment to accuracy, safety, and long-term employment
Job Duties:
-
Operate heavy-duty bandsaws to cut steel beams based on customer specifications
-
Use tape measures to ensure precise measurements to the nearest fraction of an inch
-
Place and secure beams (up to 60 feet long and 5,000 pounds) onto machines

Perform volume calculations using length x width x height to determine cubic inches

Package completed metal products for shipment

Follow shop safety procedures and wear provided protective gear

Learn to use forklifts and assist with material handling as needed
