Hours: 5:00a-3:30p or 6:00a – 4:30p (Mon-Thur.)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Class B machinist is an experienced machinist able to complete all phases of assigned projects with moderate supervision or instruction.
REPORTING
This position reports directly to the Shop Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete accurate machining of all projects assigned with moderate supervision or assistance.
- Machining all projects assigned within the customer tolerances and specifications per drawings, written or verbal instructions received.
- Complete all projects in the most cost effective time, time saving, and safety conscious manner possible.
- Knowledgeable in and can perform most phases of the machine projects assigned with moderate supervision or assistance. Must show ongoing steady improvement.
- Use the proper tools and equipment for all projects assigned.
- Ensure all measurements of the assigned projects are correct and the proper tolerances called-for are held with periodic verification by the Shop Supervisor, or Class A machinist assigned.
- Meet with the Shop Supervisor when necessary prior to the start of, or during, a new project to ensure complete understanding of the job.
- Question any discrepancies or problems with the prints, or project, as they occur to prevent rework or rejections. Question should be brought to the Shop Supervisor.
- Cleanup of each project assigned, including deburring, dye removal, etc.
- Account for project projection times.
- Any other duties and tasks as may be assigned.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Set, adjust, and operate most machining equipment with moderate assistance.
- Use, read with accuracy, and maintain all hand tools required as a machinist.
- At least 2 years of machinist experience in a labor intensive job shop, custom machine, or production environment.
- Knowledge to read machining drawings with the ability to layout work with moderate supervision or instruction.
- Good math comprehension to determine if project measurements are correct. Spatial comprehension is necessary.
- Able to lift 40 pounds.
- Excellent eyesight and not color blind.
- Communicate in English; read, write, and understand verbal commands in English.
Hours: 6:45a-3:30p (Mon-Fri)
