Hours: 9pm–7am (Friday-Sunday)
DESCRIPTION:
Summary
Responds campus-wide to calls for emergency service while ensuring the safety and security of the grounds, facilities, residents, and associates.
Essential Functions
· Guard all property and personnel against theft, vandalism, and other illegal activities by completing regular rounds of campus grounds and facilities on foot and by vehicle.
· Warn rule violators of infractions and expel them from campus if necessary. Contact law enforcement agencies when laws are broken and cooperate closely with them to ensure campus-wide security.
· Watch for and report potential safety or security concerns and unusual occurrences to the Director of Environmental Services.
· Lock and unlock appropriate doors at scheduled times.
· Remain prepared to respond immediately and anywhere on campus to emergency calls for assistance.
· Determine the nature and extent of any injury or illness, deciding on appropriate steps to be taken. Contact outside medical personnel for assistance in emergencies.
· Work closely with arriving emergency medical personnel, providing necessary information regarding the illness or injury of the affected individual.
· Assist Environmental Services with duties such as snow and trash removal, as schedule permits. Respond to urgent calls for maintenance/environmental support across campus, resolving issues or arranging follow-up assistance as needed.
· Identify opportunities for improvement through observation of procedures and consultation with leadership and staff.
· Work flexible hours as required.
· Maintain a courteous, professional relationship with all organization staff and residents.
· Recognize safety as an important job responsibility. Follow all Asbury safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
· Maintain confidentiality and do not divulge confidential information or material to unauthorized individuals.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Visual acuity to perform job tasks.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling when attending to needs of associates.
- Standing and sitting 50% each.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent stooping, standing, and stair climbing.
- Use of speech, hearing, and vision to understand and give direction during a workday/shift.
Work Environment
- Work in variable conditions: indoors with others in well-lit, ventilated areas, as well as outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- May be required to work beyond normal hours and temporarily in other positions.
- May be subject to callbacks during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).
- May be exposed to infectious waste, disease conditions, and hazardous chemicals.
Required Education and Experience
Experience
- One year of experience in a related field.
- Business experience with older adults or in the retirement housing industry preferred.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid PA Driver’s License required.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
