Express Employment Professionals is currently hiring for a Metal Fabrication Quality Control Technician to support a busy fabrication operation. This is a full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy, documentation, and ensuring only quality products reach the customer.
This role works closely with the Quality Control Manager and is responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing materials, operating measuring equipment, maintaining quality documentation, and ensuring all company and customer quality standards are met.
Responsibilities for the Quality Control Technician
- Inspect incoming and outgoing fabricated metal products for defects and compliance to prints
- Operate measuring equipment including CMM machines and manual tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Compare product dimensions to prints and specifications
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
- Maintain logs for material certifications and weld personnel qualifications
- Verify First Article inspections, dimensional checks, and material certifications
- Inspect outsourced and burn table products upon receipt
- Identify and isolate non-conforming parts and materials
- Initiate and document corrective action plans when required
- Ensure no non-conforming parts are approved for shipment
- Provide final approval for parts being shipped to customers
- Work closely with Project Managers to understand customer quality expectations
- Coordinate with Shipping, Receiving, forklift operators, and drivers to package and load products
- Verify quantities, identify damage, and report shortages or quality issues
- Ensure all required documentation is signed, attached, and updated in the ERP system
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date quality data for customer and internal use
Requirements for the Quality Control Technician
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Experience using measuring equipment and inspection tools (CMM experience preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication prints
- Comfortable using computers and multiple software systems
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of quality decisions
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable, responsible, and detail oriented
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) approximately 50% of the time
- Frequent movement throughout the shop, office, and yard areas
- Ability to use hands and fingers for measuring, handling, and inspecting parts
- Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, and trailers
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and positioning to secure or inspect products
- Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information
- Ability to visually inspect details at close range
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 100 lbs
- Comfortable working in both indoor shop environments and outdoor weather conditions as needed
