Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for adult and pediatric patients
- Provide direct respiratory therapy services as assigned
- Manage ventilated patients, including ventilator setup, adjustment, and monitoring
- Perform tracheostomy care, airway management, suctioning, and cuff pressure monitoring
- Wean patients from mechanical ventilation per established protocols
- Accurately document all therapeutic and diagnostic activities in the medical record
- Assess the appropriateness of respiratory care orders and communicate variances with physicians
- Develop and manage individualized respiratory care plans based on patient assessment
- Participate in patient rounds and serve as a respiratory care resource to the healthcare team
- Educate patients and family members on treatment procedures and pulmonary health
- Respond to emergencies including cardiopulmonary arrest, performing CPR and airway care
- Perform equipment setup, troubleshooting, quality control, and maintenance
- Identify opportunities for quality improvement, safety, and process enhancements
- Participate in clinical education, in-services, and peer review activities
- Maintain clinical competency in accordance with professional standards
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care Technology preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience
- Current state licensure and required credentials
- BLS and ACLS required
- PALS certification required (may be completed after hire)
- Ability to apply pediatric respiratory principles in a clinical setting
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of critical thinking and problem-solving
