GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Mechanic Level 1 (MML1) is responsible for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner to minimize production down time, as well as perform other routine maintenance tasks as required to support production.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

-Utilize working knowledge of all packaging equipment to make repairs in a timely manner necessary to support production.
-With the assistance of supervision, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner to minimize production down time.
-Take apart and clean equipment components such as powder filling augers, vibratory bowls, hoppers, screw feeders and other packaging equipment components in an efficient and timely manner to minimize production down time.
-Use maintenance equipment such as bench grinders, belt sanders and other small shop tooling necessary to complete the job at hand.
-Ability and willingness to perform any and all jobs assigned by the Supervisor.
-Availability to Production line personnel at all times..
-Responsible for maintaining a well-organized, safe Maintenance shop. Ensuring milling and turning equipment are in good, safe operating condition.
-As a Level 1 Mechanic, learn various aspects of the Maintenance Department in an acceptable and timely manner as set forth by the Director of Engineering.
-Report directly to the Director of Engineering.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

-Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mechanic role or equivalent, preferable with working knowledge of packaging equipment and basic maintenance procedures.

-Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently so as to comprehend equipment manuals, information regarding hazardous chemicals and all equipment instruction, warning signs and decals.
-Basic understanding of how to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
-Basic understanding of how to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
-Basic understanding of thread sizes and some knowledge of how to use tap and dies.
-Knowledge of both metric and standard units of measure.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for an entire ten (10) hour shift.
