Customer Service Representative
$23.41/hour
Temporary Assignment (Through September 18, 2026)
Monday–Thursday Schedule with Short Friday
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to support a busy utility office during an extended leave coverage assignment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping customers, handling a variety of administrative tasks, and working in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Compensation
What You’ll Be Doing
- Answer and route incoming calls using a multi-line phone system
- Greet customers and visitors and direct them appropriately
- Assist customers with billing inquiries, payment arrangements, account changes, and energy assistance questions
- Process payments received in person, by mail, or over the phone
- Prepare service orders for account setups, disconnects, repairs, meter requests, and related services
- Respond to customer questions regarding usage, rates, outages, and utility services
- Process late notices, fees, and service disconnections as needed
- Maintain accurate customer records and electronic account information
- Sort mail, manage files, and generate or update reports using Microsoft Excel
- Balance cash transactions and maintain a daily cash drawer
- Provide professional and confidential customer service at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working with phone systems and multiple software programs
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Basic math and cash-handling experience
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Previous experience in customer service, billing, utilities, or administrative roles is preferred

- Office-based setting with frequent customer interaction

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting and computer use
