Job Full Description
Purchasing (Primary Focus):
- Utilize MRP/ERP systems to determine material and service requirements and generate purchase orders
- Analyze costs and negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers
- Monitor open orders and ensure on-time delivery; expedite orders as needed to support production
- Communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain accurate purchasing records
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels in alignment with company standards
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Support cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within procurement
Production Planning & Scheduling (Cross-Training):
- Work closely with the Production Manager to support production planning and scheduling within the ERP system
- Assist in adjusting production schedules based on changes in demand, materials, or capacity constraints
- Collaborate with operations to develop contingency plans and minimize disruptions
- Utilize supplier and production data to improve forecasting and material availability
- Support initiatives to improve inventory turns and reduce obsolete inventory
General:
- Learn and understand end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing processes
- Become a strong user of the ERP system (Epicor preferred)
- Perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain workflows
- Proven negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with and ERP system. (We use Epicor)
- CNC manufacturing industry experience
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal and vendor management skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
