Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on diesel-powered trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, steering components, and electrical systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of equipment
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for mechanical issues and safety concerns
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and troubleshoot problems
  • Repair and replace defective parts and components
  • Maintain accurate repair records and service documentation
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet regulatory requirements
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Technical training in diesel mechanics or related field preferred
  • Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or fleet technician preferred
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical documents
  • Possess own basic tools (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Skills

  • ASE Certifications or willingness to obtain certifications
  • Experience with medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and inspections
  • Experience with welding and fabrication
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and underneath vehicles
  • Manual dexterity required for handling tools and equipment

$20.00/hr. - $46.00/hr.
