Job Full Description
This is essentially a chemical manufacturing/batching production job. The operator:
- Sets up, operates, and monitors production and packaging equipment.
- Measures, weighs, mixes, and processes chemical ingredients according to specific formulas/procedures.
- Monitors batches for quality and food-safety requirements.
- Records production, sanitation, and testing information.
- Takes samples from batches for quality testing.
- Fills containers with finished chemical products.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment and the production area.
- Reports any safety, food-safety, or product-quality issues.
- Operates production equipment such as forklifts, agitators, homogenizers, and drum tippers.
Physical requirements
This is a very hands-on manufacturing position:
- Lift up to 60 lbs. repetitively
- Stand, bend and reach for extended periods
- Frequently climb stairs and ladders
- Wear PPE for extended periods
- Work around chemical-processing equipment
- Perform visual and olfactory observations
Experience
- High-school-level reading and math skills
- 2+ years of chemical or food-processing experience
- Forklift certification
- GMP/HACCP experience is a plus
