Express Employment Professionals Grand Rapids helped collect food donations and volunteered with Mel Trotter Ministries this year for our annual Brand It Blue community day. Mel Trotter Ministries serves the hungry, homeless and hurting of the greater Grand Rapids area. Their services include: overnight shelters for men, women, and families, a food pantry, education and employment training, and much more! This year we partnered with 11 other local businesses to help collect food during May and June, overall we were able to collect over 1300 pounds of food! A big thanks to all of the local businesses that got involved:
Here is what Jessica Talsma from Mel Trotter had to say about the event: "A big thank-you
to the team at Express Employment and your partner businesses for volunteering
at Mel Trotter Ministries for “Brand It Blue” this past Saturday. What an
amazing day of giving-back - thank you for including us in this unique
opportunity! We cannot
thank you enough for the food your group has collected
and the hours that 21 volunteers contributed to the Mission this weekend. Your
team filled our Pantry shelves, prepped food for our Guests, cleaned our Men’s
Dining Room, helped to assemble beds and organized our Emergency Shelter pantry
shelves. Wow, what an amazing contribution of time, support and hard-work!"

Express Employment Professionals
has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build and revitalize homes in
the community. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County provides affordable housing
to families who have to choose between paying for rent and buying food. They
provide safe and affordable homes where families can grow. Last month, they
provided a home for one of our very own Express associates.
He was chosen to receive a home
from Habitat for Humanity in March. The Express Team was able to help in the
final stages of home building by providing finishing touches to the landscaping
and exterior of the house. After a full morning of hard work, a fence was up
and the landscaping was complete.
If you or someone you know are
looking for affordable housing and would like to know more information about
Habitat for Humanity, visit their website www.habitatkent.org or call the Kent
County Habitat for Humanity at 616.774.2431.
